Funeral services for Miss Ida Barganz, retired Watertown school teacher who died
Miss Barganz
died following an operation which she underwent on Oct. 1. She was progressing
after the operation, but complications caused by a heart condition brought
death.
She was born in Watertown
Miss Barganz,
following her retirement, became active in the Curtain Club and helped organize
and directed the Junior Curtain Club. The children in this group, like her many
pupils in Douglas School, came to like her and held her in high regard. She had
a talent for working with children and winning their confidence and
cooperation. This was among her many fine attributes. She had also been active
in the affairs of the Watertown Historical society, the State Historical
society, the Euterpe club and many other local
movements which worked for the progress and cultural development of the
community.
She was a public spirited citizen,
interested in community, affairs and active to the fullest possible extent that
her time and leisure afforded. In her death Watertown has lost a truly fine
citizen whose influence for good has touched the lives of hundreds of Watertown
boys and girls who have grown to manhood and womanhood.
Up to a few years ago Miss Barganz had also been active in the Red Cross movement and
during World War I and II gave freely of her services to all such projects.
She was survived by four brothers,
Carl, Walter and Fred, all of Watertown, and Herman, West Allis. Her mother
died only a short time ago and a brother, Ted, also preceded her in death.
Miss Barganz
was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
