Virgie
R. Ebert, 84, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Marquardt
Memorial Manor in Watertown.
Funeral
services will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home
in Watertown on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lee Meissner
of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill
Cemetery.
Relatives
and friends may call to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday from
10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials
in Virgie's name may be made to Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown.
Virgie
was born in Watertown on March 26, 1924, daughter of Arthur and Ida (Willman) Fenner. She was a 1942
graduate of Watertown High School and on Dec. 11, 1943, she married Oliver B.
Ebert at the German Methodist Church parsonage in Watertown.
Virgie
had been employed at the former Glen Manufacturing in Watertown and Kroger's
Grocery Store in Watertown, Lake Mills, Lake Geneva and Oconomowoc. She had
also been employed at the former Elliott's Ladies Store, Dr. C. Bergmann and
Dr. Wm. Buchholtz dental offices, all in Watertown.
Virgie
and her husband had owned and operated the former Ebert's Grocery Store located
on West Main Street in Watertown. They were very active during their retirement
in the Mesa, Ariz., area, where they lived for several years.
She
was a lifelong member of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown, a former
trustee and was involved with many other committees within the church. She was
also a member of the Plattdeutscher Ladies Auxiliary in Watertown.
Virgie
enjoyed sewing, crafts and gardening.
Survivors
include her nieces, Mary (Joseph) Huser of Wisconsin
Rapids, Barbara (Steve) Gregory of Watertown and Shelly Rosenstock
of Milwaukee; nephews, William (Elaine) Plante, Jesse
(Gloria) Plante and Thomas (Theresa) Plante, all of Wisconsin Rapids; and a cousin, Wesley Stiemke of Madison.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Oliver, on Feb. 4, 1994.
