William E. Jones

William E. Jones died on Tuesday, July 5, 1908, of paralysis, with which he had been a sufferer since June 5, 1907.  Deceased had been engaged in the carriage painting business in this city for over 50 years and was well and most favorably known in Watertown.  Last spring his wife passed to the great beyond, and since then he has been cared for by his grandson Harry Jones and wife.  Deceased was born at Homer, Courtland County, N. Y., May 20, 1825, and in 1855 came to this city, shortly after locating in [201] First Street and engaging in the painting of carriages and furniture.  His was an active and useful life and he always took great interest in the city's prosperity.  Our people heard of his death with sincere sorrow.  One son, Eugene Jones of Racine survives him, also five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock his funeral took place from his late home, 107 Market Street, and the interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
