William J. Jones, Tenth ward

Mr. Jones was born in Watertown
He married Miss Bertha Zautner on
Mr. Jones was a member of St. Paul's
Episcopal Church. He also held memberships in Watertown Lodge No. 49, F. &
M., the Plattdeutscher Verein,
Lincoln Lodge No. 20, K of P., and the Turner society. He was also a member of
the Watertown chapter, EMBA, and was for years a member
of the Lebanon Band. He had also been a member of the old Cavalry Band here
until it left for camp just prior to World War II.
Mr. Jones had served on the
Jefferson County board of supervisors many years and was also a member of the
board of review in Watertown.
He was a man who had many interests,
among them the early history of Watertown. He kept collection of data about
Watertown events and early history of the community and was interested in
anything historical pertaining to Watertown and Jefferson County.
The funeral was held from the Schmutzler Funeral Home with services at St. Paul's
Episcopal Church. Interment
was in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. William P. Chamberlain, rector of St.
Paul's Church, conducted the funeral. There were Masonic services at the grave.
