80th Birthday Celebration

Mrs Minnie Krueger, 204 S 4ths St,
last week celebrated her 80th birthday.
The anniversary was marked by a gathering of 28 friends and relatives at
her home during the evening. Mrs.
Krueger the former Minnie Uttech was born in the town of Lebanon the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Uttech, who were among the first settlers in the town of
Lebanon. She was married twice. Her first husband, August Budewitz died 40
years ago, and her second husband died 25 years ago.
She and a brother Henry, who
operates a farm near Columbus, are the only surviving members of a family of 18
children. She had 2 children by her
first marriage, R. C. Budewitz proprietor of Vogue Cleaners, and E Budewitz,
employed at Albrecht's Badger paint store.
There are also 5 stepchildren, Mrs. William Klug of Horicon and Mrs.
August C Schoppe of the city; and Ben Krueger of Juneau, Hugo Krueger of
Madison and the former Agnes Krueger of the state of Washington.
Mrs Krueger recalls vividly the
stories of early Watertown as told to her by her parents. Her mother worked before her marriage for Timothy
Johnson, Watertown's first settler, and also was employed by the
Boughton's, another pioneer Watertown family.
Her parents were among the very first settlers in the Lebanon
locality. A spade, hoe and rack were
among the principal farm implements, Mrs. Krueger was told by her parents.
Mrs. Krueger has lived in Watertown
for the last 45 years. Her first husband
Mr. Budewitz was a cheesemaker. He
operated a factory at Lebanon and later at Reeseville. Her second husband, better known as
"Pommer" Krueger a stock buyer.
Mrs. Krueger is in the best of
health, and does her own cooking and most of her own housework. Among those from out of town at the birthday
party last week were Mr. and Mrs. Klug of Horicon and Mr. and Mrs. John Gloede
of Johnson Creek.

Mrs. Minnie Krueger, 87, widow of
August Krueger, died today at her home,
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs.
William Klug, Horicon; Mrs. August Schoppe, this city; and a son Edwin L.
Budewitz, this city, with whom she made her home.
Two other sons preceded her in
death, Oscar Budewitz, Lebanon, and R. C. Budewitz, this city There are 18 grandchildren. One brother, Henry C Uttech resides in Beaver
Dam.
Mrs Krueger was a member of St
Mark's Lutheran Church and an honorary member of the Ladies Aid society.
Funeral services will be conducted
Friday at
