Roy W. Winkenwerder, 92, of
Milwaukee, formerly of Watertown, died suddenly on
Funeral was held at First
Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown with the Rev. Stephen
Savides of First Congregational Church and the Rev. Karl Schmidt of Fox Point
Congregational Church officiating.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Hafemeister Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
Roy was born
Roy had lived in Watertown for 80
years. He had been a mail carrier for 36 years. He was a lifelong member of First
Congregational United Church of Christ and served at various times and
repeatedly as trustee, deacon, usher, choir member, performing janitorial
duties and was an all around Good Samaritan.
Roy enjoyed bowling, baseball, the
Packers and most of all, playing sheepshead. He was always available to help
friends and family in need.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara
(Dr. Henry) Gale of Milwaukee and Mary (Gary) Peterson of Pewaukee. He will be
missed by his three grandchildren, Michael, Scott (Linda) and Ellen Podolske.
He was further preceded in death by
his parents; a twin sister, Alice Schwarts-Griffin; and an older sister, Ruth
Benzel.
