Orla Yahn
1916 - 2008
Orla N. Yahn, 91, of Madison,
formerly of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Oakwood
Village Lutheran Home in Madison.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Terry Larson officiating.
Burial
will be in Oak
Hill Cemetery in Watertown.
Visitation
will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the
service.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the
charity of one's choice.
Pederson
Funeral Home in Watertown is serving the family.
Orla was born in rural Hustisford
on July 3, 1916, daughter of Moritz and Mathilda (Eickstedt) Nehls. She married
Bernard Yahn on Oct. 13, 1940. They were able to
celebrate 62 years of loving marriage prior to his death in 2003.
Orla was a kind, gracious and unassuming woman who was a
devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a
creative and wonderful cook who loved to entertain. She took great pride in her
home and yard and upholding family traditions.
Survivors
include two daughters, Marcia Yahn (Paul Uebelher) of Madison and Cynthia (Gary) McGavran
of Washington; two grandchildren, Andrew (Colleen) Gamroth
and Laura (Troy) Enright, both of Washington; a
great-granddaughter, Annalise Enright
of Washington; a brother, Myron Nehls of Hustisford; a brother-in-law, Lloyd (Ortrud)
Yahn of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
In
addition to her husband and parents, Orla was
preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia; and five brothers, Percy, Morris Jr.,
Christian, Wallace and Arthur.
The
family extends their deepest appreciation to the many neighbors (particularly
Glenn Guetzlaff and Dolly Pirkel),
friends and caregivers who provided care and support to Orla
over the last few years enabling her to live in her beloved home until
recently.
